Tinnitracks is the only European nominee for SXSW Accelerator Competitionby Lukas Zinnagl on Jan 30, 2015 • 11:48 am
We’ve reported about the niche healthcare startup Tinnitracks, hailing from Germany, earlier already and now they got some big news today.
Hundreds of companies submitted to present at SXSW Accelerator, where Tinnitracks was selected out of 48 finalists in six different categories. The team from Hamburg, Germany, is the only European aspirant among the eight finalists who will pitch in front of the jury on the 14th and 15th of March. Tinnitracks (http://www.tinnitracks.com), a digital audiology technology that treats Tinnitus, has been nominated in the category “Digital Health and Life Science Technologies” (http://sxsw.com/interactive/2015-sxsw-accelerator-finalists). We have been following the team and their continuous progress for quite a while (http://www.medcrunch.net/tech-meets-medical-innovation-meet-tinnitracks/). This nomination fits into Sonormed’s success story, the medical audiology enterprise that developed Tinnitracks, since its technology “made in Germany” could win plenty of awards such as EIT ICT Labs, a challenge organized by the European Institute of Innovation and Technolgy, to whose network Sonormed now belongs.
This solution is based on clinical trials. Apart from developing a technology which adapts scientific results into a practical solution for anyone who needs it, Sonormed also managed to establish a network of local ENT-doctors and audiologists in Germany and it seems that they are ready to internationalize in the near future.
SXSW (South by South West, Austin (Texas)) is known for being very close to new market trends, as leading start-ups from around the world showcase some of the most impressive new technology innovations to a panel of hand-picked judges and a live audience. More than 50 percent of the competing companies at SXSW have gone on to receive funding in excess of $1.7 billion and 12 percent of the companies have been acquired.
We’re happy to see that such innovation from Europe also eventually leads to being part to the prestigious SXSW.
